Reopening of public schools in Bahrain postponed

The reopening of public schools in Bahrain has been postponed by two weeks, the Ministry of Education has said.

Schools were due to open for staff on September 6, but the new academic year will now start on September 20.

The delay is to facilitate the testing of all administrative, technical and teaching staff for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The decision was based on the recommendations of the national medical taskforce following a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the Kingdom.

Private schools in Bahrain will not be affected by the move.

This year, schools are set to offer online learning alongside physical lessons.

To help with home learning, the Ministry of Education has already filmed more than 500 TV lessons

They will be broadcast on Bahrain TV Channel 2 (sports channel) and on YouTube from the start of the new school year.
