There are some brunches in Bahrain – and you know the type we’re talking about – with a lively atmosphere, plentiful supplies of food and drink, and a variety of entertainment, but it’s a strictly adult affair. Kids, on the other hand, are likely to find this as boring as a double maths lesson on a Sunday morning.
Luckily for them, however, the Royal Golf Club is giving children the chance to revel in their own environment by launching a Friday kids’ brunch in Prego. No grown-ups allowed in here.
Tailored to kids’ tastes, the menu features favourites like fish fingers, mini-burgers, lasagne and, of course, chips.
It is the desserts, though, that mark this food offering out as a young person’s fantasy food Friday. The fruit skewers, jelly wedges and Oreo cars are all well and good, but it’s the other selections that will have children begging to come back. Build-your-own cupcakes and a candy buffet. Ah, the solution to any parental problem.
After they’re all sugared-up (this is obviously a once-in-a-while type event), younger guests are allowed to run around the Country Club gardens and use the play area to run off some energy. While they’re at it, mum and dad can make the most of the à la carte menu boasting dishes such as the succulent lamb and okra or tiger prawns in a spicy peri-peri sauce. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone if you swipe a couple of cherry twizzlers.
