Your essential to do list for the month ahead

Flying high
Thurs 19-Sat 21, Sakhir Air Base:
Those magnificent men (and women) in their flying machines are back on the island this weekend for the Bahrain International Air show, and there’s a dedicated public showground running alongside the trade show. There’ll be children’s rides and a heritage village as well as the stunning flying displays from some of the world’s most talented display pilots – and watch out for the parachutists, they’re always great fun. Tickets are BD7 for adults and BD3 for children available from Batelco shops.
Taking to the air: Stunning flight displays.

Burns night
Weds 25, various:
Don your tartan, it’s the night for celebrating the life and work of one of Scotland’s best known sons, Robert Burns, and Scottish culture in general. The bard, who was born on January 25, 1759, is best known for his traditional new year song Auld Lang Syne but on this day Scots the world over get together to remember Ode To A Haggis to the sound of bagpipes.
