EDM star Avicii has been forced to cancel his upcoming Bahrain gig following health concerns.
The Swedish superstar was set to perform at the post race celebrations on Saturday April 5.
However fears erupted that the plug would be pulled after the ‘Wake Me Up’ hitmaker was hospitalised on Saturday (March 29) morning, on the eve of a performance at Miami’s game-changing Ultra Festival.
Now F1 organisers gig have confirmed the gig has been called off, with plans underway to find a replacement act.
A statement read: ‘Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) regrets to announce that Avicii, who was due to perform at the 2014 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, has had to withdraw due to an on-going medical condition. BIC wishes Avicii all the best for a swift recovery.’
Avicii’s management was quoted as saying: ‘Superstar DJ Avicii, who is currently in hospital recovering from surgery to remove his gall bladder, has been advised by doctors to curtail all activities for now. This has necessitated the cancellation of his scheduled shows April 4 in Dubai and April 5 in Bahrain.’
