Bahrain To Host GCC Games

Region's first ever Games will take place in 2011

Bahrain will play host to the first ever GCC Games in 2011.

The announcement was made at the weekend at the 23rd GCC Sports Ministers' Congress in Muscat.

The proposal was presented by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports vice-president and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa who headed-up the Bahrain delegation.

Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al Khalifa's idea of holding the first edition of the GCC Beach Games, was also welcomed by members of the board.

The Bahrain delegation includes BOC vice-president and Goys president Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa besides BOC member Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Goys president office's director Waheed Al Doy.
