Bahrain public holidays 2024: the dates to save

There is one more (very special) celebration coming up

We’ve celebrated seven Bahrain public holidays in 2024 so far: with time off work for New Year’s Day, Eid Al Fitr, Labour Day, Eid Al Adha, Islamic New Year, Ashoora, and Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH).

With the holidays for Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha both equating to three days, and Ashoora spanning two, that’s meant a total of 12 days off for public holidays so far this year.

This has given us lots more time to enjoy the Kingdom and all the brilliant things to do in Bahrain.

But… That’s not all.

There is one more Bahrain public holiday to come before the year ends – and it’s a rather important one.

Read on for the final upcoming public holiday in the Kingdom and the dates to save for next year.

Keep in mind that exact dates for some public holidays are determined by moon sightings, the most recent examples being Hijri New Year, Ashoora, and Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH).

Islamic New Year, which fell on Sunday July 7, was closely followed by Ashoora, which took place on Monday July 15 and Tuesday July 16.

Prophet Muhammad’s birthday (PBUH) fell on September 15.

Here’s to the next public holiday (we’re all excited for this one).

Bahrain public holiday still to come in 2024

The next and final public holiday in Bahrain is coming up in December (a very special month in the Kingdom).

The year will end with another big public holiday in celebration of Bahrain National Day, with one to two days off work (for some) expected on Monday December 16 and Tuesday December 17.

You’ll want to plan ahead for this one, as the traffic gets heavy with everyone taking the celebrations to the streets. The city will be painted red and white. A stunning sight to see.

You can expect flags waving from cars, crowds where the fireworks take place, and lots (we mean lots) of National Day offers everywhere.

Whether or not you’re Bahraini, this is possibly one of the best times of the year to feel one with this little Kingdom we call home.
