Mobile-only bank launches in Bahrain

Managing your money in Bahrain just got a whole lot easier after the launch of a mobile-only bank.

ila Bank, from Bank ABC, will give users a virtual debit card to use online within minutes of uploading two forms of ID and a selfie.

You’ll be able to manage multiple accounts in different currencies, all linked to one card, meaning you won’t have to worry about fees when ordering from your home country.

The brand-new bank also has no required income threshold to open an account, or a minimum balance.

Users will also receive a physical card, and you’ll be able to set or reset the pin, and freeze or block a misplaced card, all from the app.

Bank ABC deputy group CEO Sael Al Waary said, “We merged cutting edge technology and human understanding to create a bank that is aligned with modern life…

“ila is designed to listen to our customers, study their lifestyles and priorities, and offer them an intuitive banking support that is completely attuned with their financial needs, something that is also deftly conveyed by our brand promise, ‘Banking that reflects you’.”

You can download the app on the Google Play and Apple App stores – but there is a short waiting list.
