Car-sharing service to launch in Bahrain for first time

A car-sharing service is set to launch in Bahrain for the first time.

YOYO Digital Drive, which already operates in Turkey and Kuwait, will see drivers unlock vehicles using a membership card or the app.

You’ll be able to rent cars by the hour or for days at a time.

According to the YOYO website, the founders hope the service will reduce pollution and congestion in the Kingdom.

They wrote, “We imagine a world with fewer car, without traffic jams, and less pollution. Thank to our cool technology, a member-based driven user experience, and an amazing team that is dedicated, we are redefining the way the new generation thinks about alternative transportation.”

The news comes as it was revealed that a new app is set to show the air quality across Bahrain using five monitoring stations.

It will also give users information about what action to take as a precaution when the pollution is at a hazardous or unhealthy level.

Bahrain is also set to study the effect of climate change on the marine environment.

The report, which will look at all GCC states, will be used to make positive changes.
