UAE astronaut wishes Bahrain a happy National Day with photo taken from space

The UAE astronaut who became the first Arab in space earlier this year has wished Bahrain a happy National Day by sharing a photo of the Kingdom taken from space.

Hazza Al Mansoori shared the snap with his 93,000 Twitter followers yesterday. He captioned the picture, “For the land that stands for peace and tolerance.

“I wish the leaders and people of #Bahrain a happy 48th national day. A picture of Bahrain taken from space.”

Mansoori wasn’t the only person paying tribute to Bahrain this National Day, with Google honouring the Kingdom with a doodle.

Visitors to the Google homepage in Bahrain were greeted with a waving Bahrain flag against a cloudy sky.

And if you’re after a permanent memento from Bahrain’s National Day, you can now buy a commemorative stamp at Bahrain Post.

The stamp features a picture of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa alongside Arabic text symbolising the spirit of Bahrainis, reading “pure hearts and thankful people”.

If you missed out on all the National Day festivities, don’t fret, you can check out all the pictures from the fireworks show at Bahrain International Circuit here.
