Bahrain is set to get a brand new exhibition and convention centre in Sakhir by mid-2022.
The new building, which will be located next to Bahrain International Circuit, will be five times as big as the current exhibition centre in Sanabis.
It will include ten exhibition halls, a 4,500 sq m conference hall, plus areas for retail shops.
Industry, Commerce and Tourism Minister, Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani said that the project will be the largest of its kind in the region, and will “consolidate the Kingdom’s status as a leading tourism and commercial destination in the near future”.
The current centre plays host to events such as the upcoming Autumn Fair and the International Garden Show.
Future events could be even bigger thanks to the new centre, which is set to cover 308,000 sq m.
The building has been designed by the German consultant Co KG & Tilke GmbH, who also designed Bahrain International Circuit.
Cebarco Bahrain S.P.C are set to work on the construction of the building after being awarded the project by the tender board.
