Lane closed on Zallaq Highway for one month

The slow lane on Zallaq Highway will be closed to traffic for one month.

Improvement works on the highway between Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa and the Gulf of Bahrain Highway have meant there will be just one lane provided for eastbound traffic.

According to the Ministry of Works, the closure will be completed on February 4.

Back in November, the Ministry of Works shut the fast lane on Zallaq Highway between Zaid Bin Omera Highway and the Gulf of Bahrain Highway for a month.

The ongoing project, which will span the length of the 1.4 km highway, will see traffic signals installed at the Zaid Bin Omera Highway and Jaza’air Beach Avenue intersections and the development of parking spaces.

It will also involve asphalt pavement construction, setting up road signs and the addition of street lighting and storm brain systems.

The Ministry of Works is also developing Salmabad Bypass, which has seen the southbound lanes closed for three months from November 2019.
