Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway roadworks close lanes for three weeks

If you’re planning on travelling along Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway in the next three weeks, you might want to reconsider your route.

Resurfacing works along the road will see one and two lanes closed for eastbound and westbound traffic.

Stage one of the works will see the lanes closed between 11pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday, while the second stage will see the lanes closed from midnight until noon every Friday.

The news comes after expansion works along Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway were finished last month.

A fourth lane was added to the highway between the Salmabad intersection and the Tubli intersection, as was a 2.5 km rainwater drainage network.

The road’s capacity has now increased from 6,000 cars an hour to 8,000 per hour.
