Work has begun on Souq Al Bahara, the market that is set to open in Diyar Al Muharraq.

Once complete, the integrated market will have more than 470 stores. The project is set to open to the public by March 2021.

Planned shops in the souq include a fish market, a fruit and vegetable market, a meat and poultry market, plus stores for household goods and jewellery.

Alongside this, there will also be a family recreational centre, a supermarket, a fuel station as well as restaurants and cafes.

Ahmed Alammadi, Chief Executive Officer of Diyar Al Muharraq, said, “It is with great pleasure that we announce the laying of foundation for the Souq Al Baraha project that will be a great and unique addition to Diyar Al Muharraq.

"The market will include a variety of shopping options, serving the needs of both residents and visitors.

“The design of Souq Al Baraha will reflect the unique architectural culture of the Kingdom of Bahrain, in line with our eagerness to establish a Bahraini identity throughout various residential and commercial projects in the city."
