Jidhafs Central Market to be rebuilt

Jidhafs Central Market is set to be knocked down and rebuilt, with work starting by mid-2020.

The market, which is one of Bahrain’s oldest, will be completely transformed once works, which are set to take 14 months, are complete.

The new one-storey building will have five sections with 85 traders in total.

Inside the market will be a 20-stall fish section, a meat section with 14 butchers and two stalls dedicated to poultry, a fruit and veg area with 34 stalls, and a local products section with another 15 stalls.

Finally, there is set to be a services area which will include a traditional coffee shop.

We’ll keep you up to date on the progress of the works in the coming months.

If you’re looking for somewhere to pick up fresh fruit and veg, don’t forget the Budaiya Botanical Garden farmers’ market is back until April.

Plus, there’s a brand new farmers’ market at Oasis Mall.
