Lifeguards to patrol Bahrain's Budaiya beach

Lifeguards are now set to patrol Budaiya beach during the weekend and on public holidays.

The Royal Life Saving Bahrain (RLSB) will have five trained lifeguards at the popular beach between 10am and sunset until November.

Golden Beach in Durrat Al Bahrain, the Kingdom’s first rock-free beach, is also set to get lifeguards but no start date has been announced.

There are also plans for two other beaches in Bahrain to get lifeguards, as well as some swimming pools, and the RLSB hope to eventually have lifeguards at every beach.

RLSB safety executive Sam Rahman said, “The lifeguards are trained to actively engage with beach visitors to educate them on beach safety, respect for the environment, and to take preventative actions to reduce the number of rescues needed.”
