Bahrain to launch coronavirus app

Bahrain is set to launch an app that will help contain the coronavirus (COVID-19) by spreading awareness about active cases in the Kingdom.

The Be Aware app, which will be free to download from, will alert individuals if they approach an active case or a location where an active case has visited or passed by.

It is hoped the app will advance contact tracing efforts.

Residents in Bahrain can already visit the Ministry of Health website here to find accurate figures on the number of active and discharged cases.

The website also has a full list of cases in the Kingdom and details about their travel history and where they have been in Bahrain.

Anyone who believes they visited any of these locations on the dates stated, or if one of their relatives or acquaintances did so, must contact 444.

Contact tracing is being used all over the world in a bid to combat the spread of COVID-19, and is an internationally recommended method of safeguarding public health.

All of the information provided on the Be Aware app will be confidential to ensure the privacy of residents.
The Kingdom’s health authorities have said people are free to download the app or turn on its location services entirely by choice.
