LuLu Hypermarket opens special checkouts for healthcare workers

LuLu Hypermarkets across Bahrain now have special checkouts for healthcare workers.

Doctors, nurses and hospital workers can use the two counters at any of the LuLu stores across the Kingdom.

The hypermarket chain introduced the initiative as a way to thank medical staff for fighting against coronavirus (COVID-19).

LuLu Hypermarkets have also added stickers to the floor to show shoppers how far they should be standing away from each other while social distancing.

Last week, the government of Bahrain announced that grocery stores are set to have an elderly and pregnant women-only hour.

The first hour after opening will be restricted to help reduce interactions among these vulnerable groups, reducing the risk of them catching the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Retail shops, with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies and clinics, will be closed until at least April 9 under new measures.

The government is urging residents to stay at home.
