The initiative is to support those who may be struggling due to coronavirus (COVID-19)

Bahrain’s Capital Governorate distributes 1,100 meals to expat workers

More than 1,100 meals have been distributed to expat workers in the Capital Governorate in a bid to help those affected by coronavirus (COVID-19).

The charity campaign, which kicked off yesterday, is set to continue until the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Capital Governor Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalifa has said there are plans to coordinate with philanthropists to support the project.

The Capital Governorate aren’t the only ones helping those in need during this time - Big Texas Barbecue & Waffle House has also teamed up with Cox Logistics SPC and the Rashid Alzayani Foundation to give out food.

So far, the restaurant has distributed 650 bowls of soup to those who have lost their jobs, and there are plans to give out 1,000 in the coming week.

The Gulf Hotel Bahrain has just launched a pay it forward campaign that will see one free meal given out to health care workers or volunteers everyday.

All you need to do is submit some uplifting artwork, and if you win, you get to choose who receives a free meal.
