Bahrain’s coronavirus app begins sending contact tracing notifications

Bahrain’s new coronavirus app has started to send push notifications to those who may have come into contact with active cases.

Since launching at the end of last month, nearly 300,000 people have downloaded the app which tracks the locations of active coronavirus patients.

Over the past two weeks, the data has been collected and compared, and now text messages and push notifications have been sent out requesting that people who may have had contact with an active case come in to be tested.

You can download the BeAware app on Bahrain.bh/apps or from the Apple app store or Google Play store.

The app is optional for residents and citizens, but those who have coronavirus must wear a GPS tracking bracelet.
