Bahrain Labour Day holiday announced for Sunday

This Sunday will be a public holiday in Bahrain, it has been announced.

As International Labour Day, on May 1, falls on a Friday, Sunday will instead be given as a day off.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, issued a circular declaring that all ministries and public authorities and institutions will remain closed on Sunday.

Bahrain residents are also expected to have a public holiday later on in May for Eid al-Fitr.

As Ramadan began on April 24 this year, Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on Sunday May 24 this year. Eid is declared after 29 or 30 days of fasting following the start of Ramadan, but is dependent on the sighting of the moon.

A public holiday will also be confirmed closer to the time.
