Bahrain starts issuing revamped ID cards to residents

Bahrain is rolling out its revamped ID cards to residents.

The new cards, which have already been given to Bahraini newborns and other Bahraini nationals, provide higher personal data security with features that prevent the chip from being tampered with.

Your current ID card will stay valid until its expiration date, at which point you will be issued a revamped version.

Other features on the card include larger photos, a new background, a new field for your country flag, and a more prominently displayed expiration date.

You need to use your CPR card to gain access to a number of governmental services.
