Electric Swing Circus

Electric Swing Circus man Rashad Gregory answers our questions

1. How did you join the Electric Swing Circus?
We’re all friends who live within a mile of each other in Birmingham, in an area full of young musicians and artists, so we got together through a mutual appreciation of music.

2. What is electro swing?

A fusion of big band brass and gypsy jazz mixed with modern dance music, synths and beats. I love it because it’s all about having fun, forgetting your worries and losing yourself in music and dance.

3. You must get to travel all over – where has your favourite place been?
We don’t have a favourite, we just love to travel with our music, which is why we’re so happy to be in Bahrain. I’ve never been, but I was in Oman recently as I have family there and only heard good things.

4. So you have a new album coming out this year?
We’re in the studio finishing it right now. It’s bigger, better and more ambitious than anything we’ve tried before and we’ve put our heart and soul into it. Expect to dance!

5. When you’re not swinging, what are you listening to?

Right now I’m listening to the new David Bowie record, Moderat and Kendrick Lemar.
