Expect plenty of Irn Bru and battered Mars Bars

Bahrain’s first Scottish-style fish ‘n’ chip shop to open this week

Leaving home is difficult enough when you’re moving cities, but it’s even harder when you’re thousands of miles away from your family.

Here in Bahrain, you can get food from all over the globe, but sometimes all you want is some home comforts.

And for the Scots living in Bahrain, that just got a whole lot easier as a brand new Scottish-style fish ‘n’ chips shop is set to open in Adliya this week.

The Frying Scotsman will be serving up classic treats like mince and tatties, black pudding and Scotch pies, and you can wash it all down with some Irn Bru.

You’ll be able to get fresh North Sea fish including haddock, cod, pollock, sole and kippers, and you’ll be able to get it prepared exactly the way you like it – battered, breaded, poached or grilled.

Then for dessert you’ll be able to get battered Mars Bars (don’t knock it ‘till you’ve tried it).

Want some home-style cooking but fish ‘n’ chips isn’t your thing? Don’t forget, Harvesters has a special roast dinner offer every Saturday.
Daily noon-2am. The Frying Scotsman, Adliya (1768 6669).
