Banyan Tree Lobby Lounge

Decadent café with sophisticated snacks and atmosphere

Time Out Says

Time Out wasn’t planning to end up here, but a taxi mishap (book a taxi well in advance unless you want to be stranded for a while, although the lavish Banyan Tree resort is a pretty appealing spot in which to be stranded) led to us killing a couple of hours in this decadent salon.

Drop by and expect to see well-heeled types tucking into a range of sweet treats; addiction on a plate. We doubt that there’s a single food group in the candy-coloured creations on display, but even those who survive on a diet of wheatgerm and spirulina will go slightly loopy when confronted by these renditions of sophisticated desserts. Complement your tasty treats with a cup of lemongrass tea (the same intoxicating brew that is served in the spa).

Indulging in a little something in this stylish but comfortable setting – adjacent to a well-stocked gift shop if you fancy a browse – makes for a relaxing way in which to pass a few hours. Sometimes things not working out the way you planned is a good thing.
