Swan Lake Restaurant
Time Out Says
Although Swan Lake is unlike the fancy fine dining venues that typically garner attention, it is heaped with character and quirky charm. Everything is very clean and décor is amusingly bemusing, befitting for its central souq location.
We arrive on a weekday evening to find the place busier than expected. A single waitress serves everyone quickly and efficiently. During weekends, service does tend to slow, as they also offer free delivery.
Our waitress may not smile, but she certainly knows her way around the vast menu. Against her advice, we order far too much; the portion sizes are enormous. The “small” tom yum soup is enough for four people. That makes the budget prices are even more impressive (most main courses are BD3.5).
The seafood, meat and noodle dishes are all hearty without being overly oily. The ingredients may not be super prime, but they are fresh, and this place nails the flavour balance of sweet with sour, and spicy with umami.
The bottom line
We encourage you to forgo five stars and enjoy an affordable ethnic meal here.
