Nine years ago, two female expats, with a mutual love of the arts, dreamed up a fun, safe environment for their children to discover their artistic talents. This is how Studio Ceramics was established, a beautiful studio in Budaiya, where everybody could become an artist – no prior skills necessary.
It quickly became a haven of calm for customers (not just kids) to get involved with a range of fun art projects. To this day, Studio Ceramics is a go-to place for the casual creatives of Bahrain, but now it’s based in the more convenient Seef Mall.
The idea is that you can choose a piece of pottery – it could anything from a teapot to a sugar bowl, a plate to a clay model of your baby’s footprint – and then paint it yourself using a variety of resources available in the store. The team will then glaze and fire it and, in less than a week, you can take home your very own food- and microwave-safe, dishwasher-proof masterpiece to display proudly in your own home or give as a unique gift.
If you’re not so creatively inclined, however, and don’t want to have a go yourself, but still want your own original keepsake, the shop also offers a commission service.
On top of all that, there are school field trips and spring and summer camps for the kids, wet clay projects, corporate team-building days and you can even book your birthday party here in their dedicated party room.
It’s a place for all occasions, whenever your creative fancy strikes.
Open daily 10am-10pm. West Wing, Seef Mall, Seef, www.studioceramics.me (17 002 911).
