Before the likes of Pokemon Go and immersive video games children’s entertainment seemed a lot simpler.
Time Out has a vivid memory of a fortnight stuck indoors a cold caravan watching a rainstorm through a leaking window.
Had it not been for a single snakes and ladders board we may never have survived that week and unashamedly admit to a lifelong love of the game ever since.
So it is with great delight that we note the arrival of a life-size snakes and ladders board at the City Centre Mall in Bahrain.
City Centre Bahrain’s version of the classic board game will feature Bahrain’s history through iconic miniature landmarks of the Kingdom. Oh, and there are some nifty prizes to be won along the way as well.
To participate, visitors simply have to spend BD30 in shopping, dining, or entertainment at City Centre Bahrain and present their receipts to Customer Service desks, to receive a participation coupon. Players will get a chance to win exciting prizes from the participating retailers in addition to the weekly prizes of BD 1,000 worth in gift cards.
Up to 4 players can play at a time and follow a numbered path through Bahrain history.
To add to the fun, famous radio jockey Ali Dawood will be hosting the game daily along with famous entertainers, such as Imran Al Aradi and Khaled Janahi, on weekends. Players will have a great time engaging with these renowned personalities throughout the game.
One of the game board’s blocks will be allocated for charity donations. Every time a player ‘falls’ on the allocated space, BD 1 will be donated to Bahrain Down Syndrome Society – a charity organisation that provides support to health, psychology, education and social services to individuals with Down Syndrome in Bahrain. The total donations from the game will provide essential school supplies to children that have been diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
City Centre Bahrain’s ‘Snakes and Ladders’ will be located in the Central Galleria, until the end of August. 10am to 10pm on weekdays and from 10 am to 12am on weekends. www.citycentrebahrain.com
