Weightlifting competition held today for Bahrain National Day

Thought Bahrain’s National Day events were over for 2019? Think again.

A weightlifting championship will be held today (Friday December 20) as part of festivities celebrating Bahrain’s independence day in 1971.

The Bahrain Weightlifting Association, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, will be running the event at the Muharraq Pilot Youth Centre.

Set to kick off at 4pm, there will be several categories competing this year, including female junior and under-16s, the junior men’s and under-16s, and a male-only senior competition.

The news comes after Bahrain Rowing organised a dragon boat race earlier this week, with more than BHD400 in prizes.
