Bahrain to promote traditional sports

Bahrain is set to promote traditional sports in the Kingdom.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, who is the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman, has set up the Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth)

Mawrooth will be tasked with conserving Bahraini folk heritage and tradition sports.

It is hoped the panel will help transmit the legacy down generations, strengthen its values within society and promote this long standing heritage locally, regionally and internationally.

Traditional sports in Bahrain include falconry and gazelle and hare hunting.
