Bahrain wins GCC Women’s Sports Championships

Bahrain has won the sixth edition of the GCC Women’s Sports Championships in Kuwait.

It was the third time Bahraini sportswomen have claimed the title since the tournament launched in 2008.

The Kingdom took home 77 medals in total, 36 gold, 28 silver and 13 bronze, with the United Arab Emirates coming in second, and Kuwait in third place.

The UAE bagged 54 medals, 22 gold, 14 silver and 18 bronze, while Kuwait earned 50 medals, 17 gold, 10 silver and 23 bronze.

Sports including athletics, volleyball, football, taekwondo, and bowling were including in this year’s edition of the championships.

The championship finished in Kuwait on Wednesday (October 30).

Last month, Bahraini sprinter Salwa Eid Naser was nominated for the Female World Athlete of the Year title after winning the 400m world title.
