Gyms to remain open in Bahrain

Private gyms can stay open in Bahrain, the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry has clarified.

Staff at the facilities must follow certain precautions, including cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces before gyms open and after all equipment is used.

Gyms must also stop anyone exhibiting symptoms such as fevers, coughing or difficulty breathing should not be allowed to enter.

The ministry added in a statement that logs must be kept of who went into the gym, and their entry and exit times, must be kept, and that this may be examined.

Yesterday, the ministry announced all sports inside gyms, covered playgrounds, and swimming pools had been suspended.

Sports competitions will only be allowed to go ahead without spectators until further notice.

The precautionary measures are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
