Bahrain to make decision on national sports competition cancellations in July

Bahrain is set to decide whether to resume or cancel its national sports competitions in July.

The decision, set for July 1, will take into consideration the positions of the continental and international federations in each of the sports.

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) said, "We are all confident that the Kingdom of Bahrain would overcome COVID-19 thanks to the solidarity and mutual support of all.

"Everyone is committed to the measures and precautions to protect all people in Bahrain and we are all motivated to be stronger and more determined in combating the virus."

Currently, all gyms, swimming pools and other recreational activity centres are closed, and aren’t set to reopen until April 23 at the earliest.

The closures are part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Bahrain.

Bahrain residents are instead urged to run or exercise outside alone, or with one other person who is at least one metre away from you at all times.
