With Bahrain set to enjoy a long weekend for the start of the Islamic New Year, here are five things to check out in the next few days.
Fridays are all about family at the Wyndham Grand Hotel thanks to its fantastic brunch deal. Dine on a buffet of Asian, Indian, Arabic and international foods while enjoying the view of the Manama skyline. You can keep the little ones entertained by sending them to the dedicated play zone too.
BHD15+ (soft drinks). Every Friday 12.30pm-4pm. Atmosphere Restaurant, Wyndham Grand Hotel, Bahrain Bay (1711 6116).
It’s easy for the ladies to find free drinks, but there aren’t many bars and restaurants that want to attract men. Thankfully, Havana Club has stepped up and are giving gentlemen their first drink for free every Saturday night. Guests will also be treated to live music from a Cuban band all night.
Every Saturday 8pm-midnight. Jumeirah Royal Saray Bahrain, King Mohammed VI Avenue (7770 7070).
Encouraging the kids to help around the house can be difficult at the best of times, especially when it comes to cooking. But if you want to push your son or daughter into becoming a top baker, send them down to the FURN Bistro & Bakery on Saturday where they’ll spend an hour learning the basics (and making something) while you relax.
BHD5 (per child, age three to 12). Every Saturday 9am-10am. The Westin Bahrain City Centre, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Salman Highway (1717 1441).
If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at salsa, head down to the Elements Pool and Lounge at the InterContinental Regency this Friday. Channel your inner Latin American dancer at this lively and friendly workshop.
Every Friday 8pm-midnight. InterContinental Hotel, King Faisal Highway (1722 7777).
If Thai food tickles your fancy but you don’t want to break the bank, head to the Royal Thai Restaurant for an all-you-can-eat buffet. There are live cooking counters serving up classic dishes including satays and papaya salad.
BHD15 (two selected beverages). Every Friday noon-4pm. Gulf Hotel Bahrain, Road 3801 (1771 3000).
