Tackle plastic pollution head on with CleanUp Bahrain this weekend

How you can sign up to save Bahrain’s beaches

Every single day approximately eight million pieces of plastic end up in our oceans across the globe, and you can see the effects on all the beaches in Bahrain.

As well as spoiling the landscape, these plastics break down and find their way into the stomachs of fish, turtles and marine mammals, hurting or killing them.

Now a group of environmental activists are fighting back against pollution – and you can volunteer to help them.

This Saturday, CleanUp Bahrain is hosting beach cleans across the Kingdom as part of World Clean Up Day.

To sign up, you’ll need to download the One% app (onelink.to/2xwbaz) and create a profile before searching the environment category for events taking place in Manama.

Join the CleanUp Bahrain group, and pick from one of the many beach cleans taking place between 4pm and 6pm on Saturday September 21.

The beaches being cleaned are: Karranah, Karbabad, Karzakan, Dumistan, Coastguard, Malkiya, Juffair, Nurana and Jid AlHaj.

You can find out more information about the clean up by visiting the group’s Instagram page here.
