Which is why we’re unbelievable excited about the Oktoberfest events headed to Bahrain in the coming few weeks.
From beach parties and brunches to buffets and Bavarian bands, there’s plenty of options for you to try in the Kingdom this September and October.
Don’t worry if the only phrase you know is “Ich bin ein Berliner”, and the closest you’ve been to Germany is eating a frankfurter hotdog, this is the perfect introduction to the famous festival – without the expensive flight.
Once you’ve donned your lederhosen, grabbed your biggest stein and put on your best German accent, read on to find all the Oktoberfest events in the Kingdom this year.
Bahrain Bay Kitchen
If you’re looking to take the kids out to experience proper German delicacies such as Kalbsbratworst, Spargel, Erdbeerschnitte and Schnitzel (good luck!), Bahrain Bay Kitchen is your best bet. Children below the age of six eat for free, while those under 12 get 50 percent off. For adults, there’s an extensive hops menu on offer for you to enjoy.

Germany isn’t known for its sandy beaches, but that hasn’t stopped Coral Bay from hosting a party along the shores of Bahrain this October 4. Expect international and local DJs, including DJ Jaddy and DJ Essie, as well as German food and unlimited drinks. Entry is just BHD5 for ladies and BHD10 for men, or you can upgrade and get unlimited house beverages for BHD25 and BHD30 respectively.

Gulf Convention Centre
Oktoberfest will be returning to the Gulf Hotel Bahrain this year – and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever. Held in the hotel’s convention centre, you should expect a huge buffet featuring authentic dishes such as schnitzel and sauerkraut. The organisers have also flown Lasterbacher Musikanten Band all the way from Germany to perform all night long.

If you want to experience all the joys of Oktoberfest without committing to a hefty buffet, Player’s Lounge might be just what you’re looking for. The bar staff are offering up a Bavarian inspired menu of food and beverages on September 28 or October 6 – the final day of Oktoberfest in Germany, which is always the first Sunday of October.

Tapas Bar & Restaurant
Tapas Bar & Restaurant is living up to the spirit of Oktoberfest by hosting an open-air festival complete with live German music. Head here for four hours of traditional German delicacies along with a number of hops options on Friday October 4. As a bonus, you’ll also be able to enjoy sea views – you won’t be getting that in land-locked Germany any time soon.

The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain
The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain isn’t satisfied by just throwing one event for Oktoberfest this year, so instead it’s throwing two – a BBQ night and a Friday brunch. Between 7pm and 11pm on Thursday October 3 you can enjoy grilled German specialities and plenty of hops, or head down to La Med on Friday October 4 for a three-hour long brunch where you’ll be treated to more traditional food, gingerbread hearts and authentic music.
