Can you believe it’s November already? It feels like last week that we were avoiding the heat of June, but now Christmas is basically around the corner.

Now that we’re firmly in the winter season, there are more and more events to go to and things to do.

But don’t worry – we’ve rounded up a few of the best to get you excited to spend your November days (and nights) in Bahrain in 2019.

Jazz festival
The third edition of Bahrain’s jazz festival will take place on Friday November 1. There will be 12 hours of music from bands including Spyro Gyra, Jack Rabbit Slims and the Relocators, as well as a community stage for new artists trying to break on to the scene. The Royal Golf Club will also have a number of food trucks and a children’s tent for the little ones.

Sound and light show at Bahrain Fort
Bahrain Fort plays host to a magical sound and light show explaining the history of the archaeological site and the Kingdom itself twice a year, and the tri-weekly event is back from November 1. Head here on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for the show which starts at 6pm for English speakers, and 7pm for Arabic speakers. You can buy tickets from the Qal’at Al Bahrain site museum.

Karaoke competition
If you think you’ve got a great set of pipes on you, why not head down to JJ’s Irish Restaurant for the annual karaoke competition where you’ll be in with a chance of winning BHD700. It’s not always about being a great singer – you can give a great performance without an ounce of talent (we can’t guarantee you won’t be laughed at). The competition runs every Tuesday from November 5 until December 17.

Rooftop yoga
Take your exercise to the next level (literally) by heading up to the 51st floor of the Four Seasons Bahrain Bay for a yoga class on Tuesday November 5. You’ll get to admire the stars while working on your pigeon pose for an hour.

Climate change exhibition

This month Studio 244 inside the Arad Bay Protected Area and Park is hosting an exhibition which hopes to give a 360-degree view of the climate crisis. You can find out about all the environmental problems the world is facing right now, and ways the issues are being tackled.

Sea festival

Bahrain’s annual sea festival is back again this year and kicks off on Thursday November 7. Expect boat rides, watersports and traditional musical performances, as well as an outdoor museum.

Underground music night
If you appreciate underground music, head down to McGettigan’s on Thursday November 7 for a whole night dedicated to the genre. DJ Edu Imbernon will be flying in from Valencia, Spain, to perform and you can also enjoy local DJ Mysterioo Arif on the decks.

Wizkid concert
Afrobeat star Wizkid, who has collaborated with Drake and Beyonce, is heading to Bahrain on Friday November 8. He will perform at Coral Beach during an all-day party which is set to include tunes from his third album.

Pop-up market
It’s never too early to think about Christmas presents, and this pop-up market in The Courtyard might be the perfect opportunity to get something unique for your family and friends. There’ll be 35 different vendors selling clothes, jewellery and food for you to pick from.

Rock festival
The Dilmun Club will be hosting a whole day of rock music on November 8 featuring tribute bands for artists including The Rolling Stones, U2 and David Bowie. Tickets are BHD15 for adults, and BHD8 for children, and you can pick them up from the club’s website.

Ladies’ beach days
Ladies’ beach days are returning to the ART Rotana this November. Every Wednesday you can get access to the private beach on Amwaj Islands for just BHD10. A bit of luxury for less – what’s not to like?

Swan Lake performance

It’s the seventh anniversary of the opening of the Bahrain National Theatre this month, and to celebrate the theatre will be hosting a Russian performance of Swan Lake. The performance, by dancers from the world-famous Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre, will be a slight reinterpretation of Tchaikovsky’s classic piece.

MMA competition
BRAVE 29 will be back in Bahrain on from Monday November 11 until Saturday 16, but the main event will be held on Friday November 15. You’ll get to watch American Jose Torres take on Brazilian Marcel Adur for the flyweight world championships, and a prize of $100,000, at this thrilling event.

Enjoy a British roast dinner
On Saturday November 16, Harvesters Pub and Terrace is launching a Saturday roast dinner deal. You can pick up the traditional three-course British meal for BHD18 with soft drinks, or BHD25 with three house beverages.

Night time photowalk
If you've always wanted to experiment with long exposure photography and light painting, head down to this night time photowalk around Muharraq on November 22. You can ask Ishaq Madan all the questions you want and learn about how to take the best night time snaps.

Teachers’ brunch
This month Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea and Spa is giving teachers a whopping 25 percent off its Friday brunch. Head down on November 29 to take advantage of the deal – but don’t forget your ID card.
