Eight enormous events to head to in Bahrain this weekend

In the build-up to Christmas, there are so many things to do.

This weekend alone there are free musical performances, a pyjama brunch party and a free yoga session at Bahrain Fort.

If you haven’t made any plans yet, read on for eight enormous events you won’t want to miss this Friday (December 6) and Saturday (December 7).

Attend a tree-lighting ceremony

It’s now the start of December, meaning it’s a perfectly acceptable time to put up your tree and Christmas decorations, but if you haven’t got your own this year, why not head down to a tree-lighting ceremony? There are plenty going on, with everything from free mince pies to mulled grape, and it’ll get you into the festive spirit.

Enjoy three days of free musical performances at Sound & Fiction
Bahrain has a buzzing home-grown music scene and there’s no better place to enjoy it than at the Sound & Fiction conference this weekend. Head down to Isa Town between December 5 and December 7 for performances from artists including electronica duo Arabstract, experimental sound artist Hasan Hujairi and Kuwaiti psychedelic rock band Galaxy Juice.

Go ice skating at Jumeirah Royal Saray’s winter wonderland
Jumeirah Royal Saray is opening its winter wonderland attraction this Thursday, so you’ll be one of the first to try out the ice skating rink if you head down there this weekend.

Let the little ones run wild at the Dilmun Club’s kids’ Christmas party
Christmas is all about the kids, really, and the Dilmun Club will be throwing a special Christmas party this week. The little ones will get to enjoy a festive buffet, get competitive with some Christmas-themed games and try their hand at ornament painting. There’ll also be a gift for every child from Santa’s Grotto.

Party in your pyjamas at the Big Texas Barbecue and Waffle House’s brunch
If you feel like having the ultimate lazy weekend, head down to the Big Texas Barbecue and Waffle House this Friday for brunch. The Christmas-themed party will see everyone wearing pyjamas as they enjoy five hours of unlimited food and house beverages.

Practice your tree pose at a free yoga session
Qal’at al Bahrain is hosting another free yoga session this weekend. You’ll get to practice your best poses before hearing a talk on chakras from Virginie Dreyer, the owner of jewellery store TinyOm.

Try your hand at building a gingerbread house

Watch this Beauty and the Beast pantomime
There’s nothing more Christmassy than a pantomime, and this year the British Club is hosting a production of Beauty and the Beast. Tickets are BHD7 and there are three shows on over the weekend.
