Saturday market to open at Bab al Bahrain

A Saturday market is set to open at Bab Al Bahrain this weekend.

Between 9am and 12.30pm, and from 2pm until 7pm, you’ll be able to pick up work from 40 artists specialising in crafts including basket weaving, hand embroidery, carpets and henna design.

The market, now in its second year, will run every Saturday until March 22, 2020. The Saturday Market will also open for four consecutive days during the Bahrain Grand Prix.

There will also be live music, traditional Bahraini food vendors and play areas for children.

Nader Al Moayyed, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority, said, “We look forward to hosting the ‘Saturday Market’ which aims to create an ideal platform for craftsmen to showcase their unique products to tourists in Manama.

“With Manama being named the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020, it is with great pride that we continue our efforts at BTEA to preserve these traditional professions for the future generations while developing the local tourism sector and increasing its contribution to the national economy.”

The craftsmen at the market will be alternated regularly to make sure they gain the maximum exposure possible from the event.
