There are a few zones and attractions at Bahrain’s theme park designed to elicit squeals of excitement from children.

Circle around on a gentle carousel and play crazy golf in Groovy Town, get dizzy on a roller coaster in Discovery Village, splash down the log flume in Sports Camp and see much more besides.

There are around 40 indoor and outdoor rides with each measured for thrill and speed rating, meaning you can select something suitable for the child you’re riding with (and make sure you don’t get too scared as well).

Around 300 metres long, and designed to be safe for children as young as seven, a drive round the Bahrain International Karting Circuit is the first step to a lifelong adrenalin addiction and makes for amazing family days out in Bahrain.

Parents of mini petrolheads can get on the F1 track and try the Ultimate Track Experiences, either driving or being driven around in a variety of nippy sports cars.

Play a round at the Wee Monty course

Tiger Woods was swinging a golf club before he was two years old. Consider that for a moment while you watch your child eating crayons.

You might not need to follow the devotion to the game of golf of young Tiger, but a visit to the Royal Golf Club’s Wee Monty pitch and putt course is a way for sporty youngsters to develop their swing on quality greens.

Designed by pro Colin Montgomerie, the nine holes are between 60 and 140 yards and it’s a walking course with some challenges. Various junior lessons and programmes are available.

Take your first skydive (indoors)

Vertical wind tunnels may sound like some swish engineering equipment, but at Gravity Indoor Skydiving, strap on a flight suit, pull on a crash helmet and for anybody over the age of four it becomes a thrill ride.

Controlled and solo indoor skydives are what it’s all about for anybody wanting to simulate a plane jump without, you know, actually jumping out of a plane. An extreme sport with an excellent safety record, this is one of the best sporty things to do with kids in Bahrain.

From its ancient Dilmun civilisation to its fascinating pearl diving heritage, Bahrain’s history is bound to fascinate curious young minds.

Get the sprogs one step ahead at school with a tour of the Bahrain National Museum, one of the top family days out in Bahrain.

You can spend hours in the 27,000 sq m museum checking out the various exhibitions, have lunch at the Darseen Cafe, and if you time it right, even catch a show afterwards at the National Theatre of Bahrain, located right next door.

Feed their imaginations at Bahrain Fort

More commonly known as Bahrain Fort, the Qal’at Al Bahrain site dates back nearly 5,000 years and is one of Bahrain’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Let young imaginations run wild as you wander through the ruins of the ancient capital of the Dilmun civilisation in Bahrain and feed their brains with a trip to the on-site museum.

You’ll also find a café and that all-important gift shop.

Pick up a pearl

You can’t visit Bahrain or live in the Kingdom and not explore its pearling heritage and traditions, so you may as well start them young.

At 3.5 kilometres in length, the pearling route, also called the Muharraq Pearling Path, is just long enough (or should we say, short enough) for little legs and makes for both an adventurous and educational day out for the whole family.

Engage their inner explorer with the historic homes and warehouses and check out the visitor and experience centre for more info. Treat them to the most treasured of souvenirs –their very first pearl.
