Is there anything more comforting than a curry? Whether it’s a buttery makhani dish that feels like a warm hug, or an eye-wateringly spicy vindaloo (we all need a good cry sometimes), Indian food is a go-to for many.
There are plenty of Indian takeaway outlets in Bahrain, many of which have been serving residents for literal decades.

Asha’s Chaat Sweet Namkeen
This vegetarian spot is known to Indian food lovers all over Bahrain for its amazing chaat. There are snacks from both North and South India on offer as well, and of course, plenty of sweets. The only thing sweeter than the jalebi is the prices.

Biryani House
If you’re craving an authentic Hyderabadi biryani, look no further. There are of course other dishes on the menu, but you’re not going to want to order any – trust us on this, the biryani is top notch.

Copper Chimney
This restaurant is a bit of an institution in Bahrain, having first opened its doors in 1979. Some of their customers have been coming in regularly for decades, and once you try the dishes, you’ll understand why. Make sure you order one of the kebabs – we’re huge fans of grilled paneer.

Lanterns
With five restaurants across Bahrain, Lanterns has to be doing something right. There’s loads of brilliant curries (we’re partial to a makhani), or street food and biryani dishes if that’s what you fancy. It’s brilliant for vegetarians, too.
On Talabat. Daily noon-midnight. Locations including Adliya, Amwaj and Riffa.
Mewar
Everybody wants to be treated like royalty every once in a while, and that’s exactly the kind of experience Mewar wants to give its customers. The menu is absolutely massive, with a huge vegetarian section, plus chaat and lots of bread options too, but if you’re after something special, make sure you go for one of the royal boxes. And if that isn’t enough to convince you, Mewar is currently offering a 30 percent discount on takeaway and delivery orders.

Nirvana
The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain has just launched takeaway options at all of its restaurants, including its award-winning Indian restaurant Nirvana. Currently, you’ll need to go to the hotel in person to collect your order, but we think tucking into fine dining food at home is well worth the trek.

The British Club
Brits are well-known for their love of a good curry, even if the British-style dishes are fundamentally different to the original. If you’re craving an authentic chicken tikka masala, make sure you head down to The British Club. You can get everything from a korma to a phaal, and you can choose from prawns, paneer and several kinds of meat. It’s collection only, but well worth it. Plus, if you fancy a curry but your family want pizza or fish n chips, you can get it all from one place.

Zaffran
No matter what you’re after, there’s a good chance you’ll find it at Zaffran. Indian breakfast? No problem. Chaat? Plenty to choose from. Vegetarian dishes? More than you could dream of. It helps that the food is proper delicious, too.
