Abu Dhabi in the UAE took the top spot, while Muscat, Sharjah and Dubai were also ranked highly

Manama named 39th safest city in the world

Manama has been named as the 39th safest city in the world, according to Numbeo.

Bahrain’s capital city ranked highly on the safety index, but failed to take the top spot from Abu Dhabi in the UAE.

Other top GCC cities include Sharjah, which is in 5th place, Dubai in 7th, and Muscat in Oman, which was ranked 27th.

The results are based on questions from people living in cities across the globe. Questions including do you feel safe walking home alone at night, are you worried about having your car stolen, and does your city have a problem with corruption and bribery.

The news comes after Manama was named the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2020.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is set to host a number of special events and festivals to attract more tourists over the year.

Plus, the BTEA has rebranded with a new logo that features intertwined triangles in the shape of the iconic Bahrain World Trade Centre.
